GrandWest’s Sun Park offers the facilities and support services of an indoor events venue, with the flexibility of an outdoor space.

GrandWest has become an even better venue for grand scale events thanks to our newly launched Sun Park, an expansive multipurpose outdoor venue. This fantastic new area boasts semi-permanent, flexible sophisticated grid that can easily be arranged into any configuration.

GrandWest’s Sun Park offers the facilities and support services of an indoor events venue, with the flexibility of an outdoor space. The Sun Park spans an impressive 3 000m2. The venue incorporates public toilets, a stage and viewing deck.

Thanks to Sun Park’s modular design all sorts of customisations are possible and there is access to all the necessary amenities that bring even the most over-the-top events to life. The venue is perfect for food festivals, product launches, banquets, exhibitions, concerts, pageants or any other large experience you can think of. The infrastructure offers water, electricity and WiFi.

“The customisation options are limitless,” says Elouise Matthys, the PR and Promotions Manager at GrandWest. “We opened this venue in December 2016 and we have already hosted numerous fantastic events there, like the TOPS at SPAR Wine Festival, the Cape Town Motor Show, Pumptrack, an epic modular pipe track that kept kids of all ages entertained this summer and the Cape Town Bierfest.

Last month Sun Park, GrandWest hosted the Women360 expo, an experiential event dedicated to presenting a positive, constructive, educational and entertaining platform for women. The expo hosted inspirational talks from the various women-focused speakers including the current Miss SA, Adè Van Heerden; makeup specialist Gina Myers, health expert, Letshego Zulu; celeb chef, Siba Mtongana, and more, with DJ Sketchy Bongo and DJ Zinhle providing the soundtrack.

There were plenty of exhibitors and informative workshops for enjoyment.

“Sun Park is the perfect venue as it brings large events to life quickly and easily,” said Matthys. “The semi-permanent modular design is based on internationally proven expo parks. Whether you want outdoor, indoor, multiple or triple-story structures, Sun Park is easily transformed to suit your requirements, whatever the configuration or size you need,” she said.

“We’re sure that our new Sun Park, GrandWest venue will soon be the preferred location for lifestyle events, exhibitions, conferences, concerts and banquets in Cape Town,” says Matthys. “We consider our investment in Sun Park as part of our commitment to creating seamless and unforgettable events, entertainment and hospitality experience on in Cape Town while contributing to the sustainability of the local community through on-going investment, and the promotion of business and leisure tourism to the city.”

GrandWest also offers a vibrant casino floor with a wide selection of slots and table games. The Roxy Revue Bar, GrandWest is an intimate theatre setting staging a myriad of comedy shows, music concerts and other events. The nightclub, Hanover Street, GrandWest hosts DJs and parties where patrons can dance the night away.

The Grand Arena, GrandWest is another large venue that hosts big local and international acts and shows, the likes of Rodriguez, The Illusionists, The Script and Chris de Burgh. There are also a range of restaurants to choose from including Hussar Grill, Cape Town Fish Market, Bukhara and many more.

The kids have not been forgotten. There are many fun activities and entertainment for families and children of all ages at GrandWest, including Magic Bowling, ice-skating at The Ice Station, Magic Arcade games, Laser Tag and the latest movies at Nu Metro.
