SA’s Largest Open-loop Reward Programme Set to Relaunch

In a bid to provide additional value to guests and increase its share of the local travel market, Legacy Hotels & Resorts has relaunched its loyalty programme, Legacy Lifestyle.

With more than 250 partners and 1,2 million members, Legacy Lifestyle is already South Africa’s largest open-loop loyalty programme. The recent enhancements to the programme will make it easier and more affordable for South Africans to live, stay and play at Legacy Hotels & Resorts, as well as spend their cash-back rewards at a vast range of partners, including The Cross Trainer, Dis-Chem Pharmacies, L’Occitane, Bogart Man, Spur, Pick n Pay, Superbalist and more.

Operational since 2011, the Legacy Lifestyle rewards programme is free to join and unlike many others, offers cash-back rewards in the form of Lifestyle Rands that can be earned at one partner and spent at any other partner on the programme. LR1 (Lifestyle Rand) is equivalent to R1, so as opposed to points-based programmes, there are no complex calculations when trying to determine the value of the rewards you have earned.

Lifestyle Rands can also be converted into Dis-Chem Benefit points, and Legacy Lifestyle members can link their Dis-Chem Benefits Card to earn an extra one percent in cash back at all Dis-Chem Pharmacies and online. In the near future, Legacy Lifestyle members will be able to link their credit card to the new Legacy Lifestyle app and use the app to pay at selected retail partners, including at all Legacy Hotels and restaurants.

“We have relaunched our rewards programme in such a way that it will provide extra value to our guests by making travel more affordable, and in return we plan to grow our market share,” says Robert Hodson, COO of Legacy Hotels & Resorts.

Lifestyle Rands can be spent at any of the Legacy Hotels & Resorts properties on accommodation, game drives, food, beverages, spa treatments and products, as well as at any Legacy Lifestyle partner store, or online at Members earn up to 8% cash-back rewards at hotels, depending on their tier status, and up to 12% back at other participating retailers.
