EXSA and AAXO Announce New Leadership

During the course of the week of 22-26 June 2020, both the Exhibition and Event Association of Southern Africa (EXSA) and the African Association of Exhibition Organisers (AAXO) announced new leadership for their 2019/2020 term.

EXSA hosted a virtual Annual General Meeting on 22 June with the following industry stakeholders on the board for the next term:

  • Chair: Gill Gibbs, Blu Cube
  • Vice Chair: Gabi Babinszky, Brandex
  • Treasurer: Moses Nefale, Scan Display
  • Kerry Lee Bester, Brilliant Branding
  • Mike Mira, EFAM
  • Chad Botha, Inspire Furniture
  • Presley Mokotedi, Garona Communications and Projects
  • Doug Rix, DK Design (as Past Chair)
  • Western Cape Regional Forum Representative: Gary van der Watt, Resource Design (for a second year)
  • KwaZulu-Natal Regional Forum Representative: Sibusiso Mncwabe, Marketing Well (for the first year)

“Congratulations and a huge thank you up front to all those individuals who have volunteered to step up at this challenging time for our industry,” EXSA said in their announcement on social media “We wish you a successful service to the industry.”

AAXO also announced their Board of Directors for the 2020/2021 term on Thursday, 25 June, following their AGM. These are:

  • Chair: Projeni Pather, Exposure Marketing
  • Vice Chair: Devi Paulsen-Abbott, dmg events
  • Treasurer: Mark Anderson, Specialised Exhibitions
  • Carol Weaving, Reed Exhibitions
  • Chanelle Hingston, Clarion
  • Phetogo Kubheka, Synergy Business Events
  • Suzette Scheepers, Messe München

“I’m delighted to welcome every board member and thank them for their contribution, not only to AAXO but also for the wider growth of events and exhibitions,” Pather said. “We have an exciting year ahead that will focus on evolving our educational and mentorship offering whilst cultivating our footprint continentally. Our board comprises an experienced group of professionals all of whom possess a wealth of knowledge and a firm mission-critical commitment to our vision of promoting and strengthening the continents exhibitions and events sector.” This will be her second term as Chair of AAXO.
