Hostex 2018 Opens with a Bang

Renowned Chef Reuben Riffel and recently-elected President of SACA, James Khoza, popped the cork on a bottle of bubbly as Hostex powering Food & Hospitality Africa opened at Gallagher Convention Centre yesterday morning.
Running from 6 to 8 May 2018, the show that unearths innovation returns for another year of opportunity and fresh inspiration.
An electric vibe could be felt throughout the two massive expo halls, housing over 250 exhibitors. With thousands of new products on display, the show offers a convergence point between local commerce and the international market.
The National Youth Chefs Training Programme announced the winner of their annual competition – Zoe Maseko came third and won R2000, Sikhumbuzo Thwala came third and won R5000. Zolani Ntsumpa clinched first place and took home the R10 000 grand prize.
The Host-ED Theatre was abuzz with activity, as speakers from a range of industries shared their knowledge and insight. On the free-to-attend seminar menu tomorrow:

- Beautiful aesthetics: Hotel and restaurant renovations making rands and sense by Grant Sandham from Guvon Hotels and Spas
The Skillery competition zone will host the prize-giving of the Lucky Star Seniors Innovation 2018: Seven Colours. Don’t miss the demo by Chef Adrian Vaughan of Sun International “Something’s Cooking” at 12h30.
Other notable attractions at the show include the SCASA Barista Championships and an exquisite display by the South African Cake Decorators Guild. SACDG is also holding a cake decorating competition open to visitors.
