It is important to note that, in accordance with the SA Citizenship Act, is an offense to travel to South Africa utilising a foreign passport if such a person has the right to make use of a South African passport. We, therefore, urge all South Africans with dual nationality, and who have the right to make use of an SA passport to ensure that such a travel document is always kept valid and up to date for travel purposes to South Africa.
Many South African-born citizens accept a second nationality through naturalization without seeking advice from the SA authorities first. In these instances, it is best to obtain written confirmation from the SA authorities that such a person no longer has the right to make use of a South African passport, which can then be shown at the SA port of entry avoiding any difficulty upon entering the country.
Breytenbach Immigration Consultants Ltd (BIC) have a dedicated South African Immigration Department and are available to assist with any SA immigration queries or applications. Please feel free to use the form below to contact us.
