World Literacy Day celebrated with Wola Nani Charity Book Sale

In recognition of World Literacy Day on Wednesday 8 September, Gardens Shopping Centre will be hosting a five-day charity book sale from Wednesday 8 – Sunday 12 September. Proceeds from the sale will go to support NGO Wola Nani’s work with orphans and vulnerable children (OVC).

For readers of all ages there will be a large selection of quality and collectible second-hand books across various genres including: Children’s, Crime Fiction, Non-fiction, Cookery, Africana, Mind Body Spirit, Arts, Classics, Thrillers, Poetry and Plays, Gay, Business, Modern Classics, Humour and Biographies.

In addition, stall convenor Well Read Books will also be offering a wide variety of contemporary, cult and classic DVDs and CDs to cater to the most ardent movie and music-lovers. 

Wola Nani is a non-profit organisation striving to improve the quality of life of those living with HIV and AIDS, especially women, orphans and vulnerable children. “Our children’s programme has grown substantially over the past year and involves everything from after–school homework support to food parcels,” says executive director Moira Jones. “We encourage book lovers and collectors to support the work of Wola Nani by visiting our stand at the Garden Shopping Centre”.        

The sale will run upstairs at Gardens Centre from 09:00- 17:00 (Wednesday – Saturday) and from 09:00- 14:00 on Sunday 12 September.
