Magnetic group of companies more magnetic than ever

Magnetic Event Management is a South African experiential activations, events, and branding  specialist agency. The company has played an integral part in ensuring the globe felt South Africa’s unique patriotism, spirit and enthusiasm in hosting the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Magnetic is responsible for some of South Africa’s most recognised and memorable events and activations, including South African Tourism’s 2010 and 2009 Indaba opening ceremonies and ETEYA and Welcome Awards ceremonies, as well as a World Travel Market  2009 activation in London and various national Sho’t Left consumer activations.

They also worked with South African Tourism’s PR and Communications department on the country branding and welcome desk designs and production at all 10 stadia for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

According to John Arvanitakis, Magnetic’s director, their magnetic formula for success is simple: “dedication to surpass client expectations; discipline to work within our client’s budgets – no matter how big or limited these may be; and working with  some of the industry’s most passionate professional suppliers.”

Magnetic has been responsible for delivering the national First National Bank (FNB) Biznetwork business networking events over the past five years. Magnetic is now a preferred partner for events and activations for the FNB Group.

Magnetic has executed a number of successful events and activations on behalf of advertising agency, Ogilvy South Africa. These include Nike’s Wired for Speed Jozi activation; Nycomed’s  national product launches; The Department of Tourism’s Tourism Month 2009 media launch and National Tourism Day celebration, hosted in the Northern Cape; and Cadbury’s Lunchbar SA’s Got Talent national audition’s road show.

For the third year running, Magnetic has just been appointed to manage and activate Billabong’s Girls Get Out There Summer Beach Road Show, during the upcoming December 2010 holiday period.

Magnetic also landed the contract from Men’s Health magazine to manage the inaugural South African Men’s’ Health Urbanathlon event, which will take place through the streets of Sandton during November 2010. “This is an exciting challenge and one which we are extremely proud to be associated with. It will be a very exciting event for the readers of Men’s Health as well as the citizens of Johannesburg,” says Marius Roberts, a director of Magnetic Events and the company’s project manager for the Men’s Health Urbanathlon

During June and July 2010, Magnetic Events successfully executed the Handy Andy Actifizz Science Fare on behalf of Unilever South Africa, with The Nutty Professor activation in shopping malls around Cape Town.

The experiential activation involved the setting up of a “science laboratory” in the shopping malls, where children participated in science experiments using Handy Andy Actifizz.

It was a great way to keep children occupied during the recent school holidays around the World Cup. The success of the initial phase of this activation has resulted in Unilever confirming the roll out of the second phase in shopping malls in Gauteng during August and September 2010.

While proving their capabilities in the build-up to the World Cup, Magnetic has been hard at work expanding their market offerings to include two complimentary business units: Magnetic Communications and Magnetic Dialogue.

“We at Magnetic are excited by our growth despite the current economic climate, which is putting strain on the marketing budgets and ad spend. We are thrilled to welcome Magnetic Communications and Magnetic Dialogue. While we have increased Magnetic’s marketing offering, we still remain dedicated to swift delivery  and world-class service,” says Brent Van Ryswyk, a director at Magnetic Events.

Director Tumaini Leshoai says Magnetic Communications has already proven it’s capabilities by being awarded the below-the-line activation and events tender for South African Tourism for the next 42 months.

Magnetic Communications also recently completed the Tourism Service Excellence Training national roadshow on behalf of FEDHASA.

Magnetic Communications   successfully pitched on the design of the Accenture stand at the upcoming Govtec exhibition, which will be held at ICC Durban in September  2010.

“Magnetic Dialogue is the creative marketing communications and public relations partner,” says Magnetic Dialogue’s managing director, Joanne Doyle. “We develop creative engagement strategies to ensure meaningful dialogue between an organisation’s brand, product and employees.”
